Summer Reading

Traditionally, summer is a time for favorite leisure activities: relaxing with family and friends, taking interesting and fun-filled vacations, swimming and READING! Kylene Beers, a researcher in the field of reading and a lover of literacy says, “Read. Read long. Read short. Read hard. Read easy. Read funny. Read sad. Read until you drop. Read to stretch & grow & know. Read.” We agree. Over the summer months, we would like you to read, read, and read because we want you to grow, know, and feel. To support this value and love of reading, we hope that you will read until you drop, but we require that you read at least three books. One book must be an award winning book (Nutmeg or Newbury) and the other two are you choice. Pick one book you have read and complete one of the options on the choice board. Your teachers will have you share them or will collect them the first week of school.
