On Tuesday evening, the PTA hosted a Meet the Principal with Chris Geissler. He welcomed the opportunity to meet families.
TIGERS Leadership Recognition
At John Read Middle School, we believe that leadership is about much more than holding a title; it is demonstrated through everyday actions that make our school a better place. Each month, every grade-level team will recognize two students who have consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout the previous month. These students model the values that help create a positive, respectful, and supportive school community.
Student Leaders are not necessarily the loudest voices or the students with the highest grades. Instead, they are individuals who lead by example, make responsible choices, treat others with kindness, and positively influence those around them.
What Makes a JRMS Student Leader?
Student Leaders consistently demonstrate many of the following qualities:
T — Teamwork: Collaborating and working together to achieve common goals.
I — Integrity: Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
G — Gives back: Helps others and contributes positively to the school community.
E — Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others.
R — Respect or Responsibility: Honoring others and taking ownership of actions.
S — Self-Awareness or Self-Control: Understanding yourself and managing your reactions.
Leadership is not about being perfect. It's about making choices every day that inspire and positively impact others. We encourage every student to strive to be a leader and help make JRMS a place where everyone feels valued, supported, and proud to belong.
INDOOR RECESS BOARD GAMES NEEDED
When rainy, snowy, or extra-cold days keep us inside for recess, we want to make sure our students still have opportunities to relax, have fun, and connect with their classmates.
We are looking to build our collection of board games, card games, and other indoor activities for students to enjoy during indoor recess. If your family has any new or gently used games that you would be willing to donate to JRMS, we would greatly appreciate them!
Games that are easy to learn, can be played in about 20 minutes, and work well for small groups are especially helpful.
Donations can be dropped off in the JRMS Main Office at any time.
Thank you for helping us make those indoor recess days a little more fun!
Optional Chromebook Insurance
Coverage and Benefits:
This program is designed to protect students and families if a student's Chromebook is damaged or malfunctions through no fault of the student. Students in all grades will use Chromebooks this year in different capacities; therefore, all students face a risk of damage.
Please note: Students and parents may be charged for any intentional device damage, which is not covered by the policy.
If a family does not enroll in the program and pay the annual premium by SEPTEMBER 30th, the family will be responsible for the full cost of repair, including labor or full replacement cost of the Chromebook or charger resulting from any damage or loss.
Families experiencing economic hardship may request a fee waiver by contacting the school administrator.
The policy covers the student’s ER9-issued Chromebook against accidental damage to the Chromebook or theft of the device, subject to the following:
First Incident of repair/replacement: 100% of cost covered
Second Incident of repair/replacement: 50% of cost covered
Third Incident of repair/replacement: 25% of cost covered
Cost:
The cost for the 2026-2027 school year is $45.00.
In the event that a student withdraws or enters the district at any time during the school year, the amount will not be prorated and is not refundable.
Effective Dates:
Coverage is effective from the date of purchase until the Chromebook is collected at the end of the school year. Coverage must be renewed annually.

We're thrilled to announce that the JRMS 2027 Spring Musical will be revealed next Thursday, 09/17.
To build the excitement, Miss D'Ag will be sharing clues every day leading up to the big reveal. Additionally, students should check the board in her room to see which show has been eliminated. The spring musical will be one of the shows currently on the board, so students should check back daily to see what's left!
Stay Tuned!
