Enhancing athletic facilities for future victories
Investing in our athletic facilities now is not just an investment in sports; it’s an investment in the holistic development of our students, ensuring they have the environment, resources, and support to excel both on and off the field with dedication, skill, and competitive spirit.
Broad athletic engagement: Joel Barlow High School boasts a 70% student participation rate in athletic programs, signaling a pivotal moment to capitalize on this engagement and further nurture our students’ athletic and personal growth.
Impressive athlete roster: With 532 student-athletes, the JBHS Athletic program’s impact is both extensive and inclusive.
Multisport athletes: Notably, 274 student-athletes are engaged in multiple sports, highlighting the diverse athletic opportunities and fostering versatile skill development.
Championship success: JBHS celebrated five state championships in the 2022-2023 season, a testament to our athletes’ dedication, skill, and competitive spirit.
Enriching student lives
Streamlined practice schedules: The new space offers the opportunity to reduce late practice times, supporting student-athletes’ academic commitments and well-being.
Optimizing field use: Addressing the challenge of grass fields’ limited usage to ensure consistent, quality practice and competition space.
Postseason preparation: Addresses the necessity of turf for aligning facilities with competitive standards.
Title IX commitment: Promoting fairness and inclusivity across all sports.
Accessible restroom facilities: Upgraded to modern, regulation-compliant restrooms accessible from athletic fields, ensuring convenience and safety for all athletes and supporters.
Team room development: Established dedicated team rooms, providing a secure and supportive space for athletes to strategize, reflect, and bond, further enriching the sports experience.
Strengthening community
Modern, safe restroom facilities: Regulation-compliant restroom facilities, prioritizing safety, accessibility, and convenience for every community member.
Enhanced youth sports experience: Youth sports programs can benefit from access to updated fields and facilities.
Community enrichment: This initiative stands as a cornerstone, significantly uplifting the quality of life for students and bolstering Joel Barlow High School community spirit. It represents a priceless enhancement to our shared spaces.
Financial strategy for operational budget stability
No impact on operating budget: Principal and interest payments will have no projected increase due to declining interest and principal payments on existing loans, maintaining financial stability.
Private contributions and Redding ARPA support: Secured $50,000 private fundraising contributions and Redding ARPA match resulting in $100,000.
