In the morning, we select our lunches from the interactive board, take the register and take some time to read a book of our choice. Once we are all settled in, we will complete our starter; we do alternative days of either a writing prompt or revision of different maths concepts.

After we complete our starter and have a chance to share any news, we go over our learning targets for the day. Our target board has a range of literacy, numeracy and other learning areas activities that the pupils get choose the order they complete them in.

We play outside during the morning break along with the P4s, P5b, P6 and P7.

Once we have our break time, we come back in to finish our set targets in the morning. Once we are finished, we go over our work together and talk about what we have learned. Just before lunch, we do our daily 5-minute frenzy; we have 5 minutes to complete 100 times table questions, by doing this daily, we have been able to improve our scores.

At lunchtime, we go outside and play until around 12:55, when we come inside to eat our lunch. We can eat a packed lunch or a school lunch. School lunches are now free for all children in P5.

We focus on learning from other curricular areas in the afternoon, including health and well-being, French, sciences, expressive arts, social studies, technologies, and religious and moral education.

Just before the end of the day, once everything is tidy, we try to spend some time reading our class novel and once we have done that, we gather our things together and get ready to head home.
