Your child will soon be coming to Eaglesham Nursery. Here we will explain what you can expect from the nursery and outline some of the things you can do to help your child get ready for starting nursery to ensure a smooth and settled transition.
When your child starts at Eaglesham Nursery, they will be allocated a key worker who will be there to provide primary support to your child throughout their time at nursery. You can talk to your child's key worker about any aspect of your child's learning and development.
Your child will also be a part of a smaller group of children, which their key worker looks after. During your child's nursery day they will interact with all staff and staff are there to care for all the children and be involved in their learning. It is really valuable for your child to build these relationships with all staff as their key worker may not always be available when they are at nursery.
You can get to know all the names and faces of the staff that will be looking after your child at Eaglesham by clicking on the Meet the Staff section.
Core Sessions are: Monday to Friday from 9am-3pm
Extended Hours are 3 out of 5 days from 8am-6pm
Blended placements are where the 1140 hours are split between ourselves and another childcare provider.
All allocations are coordinated centrally by the Early Learning and Child Care Team.
All parents are encouraged to ensure their child attends for their full entitlement of 1140 hours. If a parent plans to drop off later or collect earlier, it is important to discuss this with one of the nursery team.
For security reasons the Nursery doors will remain locked for most of the 8am-6pm time frame. Nursery staff will be ‘on the door’ during busy periods, approx. 9-9.15am and 2.45-3pm. There is a buzzer system that is in operation if you require to drop off or collect your child at any other time.
When your child starts Nursery, it is important that they are given time to settle into the new environment. We feel it is essential to get this right for each child. Therefore, the settling process for a child new to nursery goes at the child’s pace. Some children will settle quickly and be ready to be at nursery for their full days and for others it will be a little longer. What is important is that both the family and the nursery staff decide together what is right for your child. All new 3 year olds will have a ‘settling in period’ that is right for them, coordinated by the nursery staff and the parent/carer.
Enrolment forms will be emailed out prior to your child starting nursery. It is important that these are completed as quickly as possible and returned to nursery.
Children are encouraged to choose from a wide range of activities throughout their day. They have a choice of areas to play across the nursery depending on their interests. There will be experiences planned by staff which children can choose to join in with and opportunities for children to design their own learning. Snack will be provided for children. Snack time will be from 9.30am-10.30am and 3.30pm-4.00pm. The children can choose when they come for snack and are supported by a member of staff. Lunch is served at 12 noon.
Eaglesham Nursery provide a lunchtime meal to all children.
All meals and snacks are developed in line with guidance to ensure they are well balanced and nutritious and the menus are available in advance.
Note: After any holiday the 1st day back will always be the Monday menu and then the normal days will follow.
NURSERY SCHOOL LUNCH MENU

Our experience of providing snacks for children shows that children will often be encouraged by the social aspect of our meal/ snack times to try new foods in nursery which they may be reluctant to try at home. We hope the introduction of a lunch will be similarly successful.
For children wishing to access our vegetarian/vegan options the lifestyles form must be completed.
If your child has food allergies/ intolerances, a medically prescribed meal request form must be completed.
Please contact the nursery for further advice regarding the required forms if you are unsure about anything.
If you do choose to provide a packed lunch for your child this should be a healthy lunch with an ice pack to keep the food cool.
Please note- we are a nut free nursery so NO NUTS.
Early years is about discovering, creating and experimenting, and this entails working with messy materials. We will always try to make sure they wear aprons, but accidents happen, so please dress your child in suitable clothing. Eaglesham Nursery has its own polo shirt and sweatshirt which are ideal for nursery adventures.
Parents are asked to dress their children in play clothes for nursery i.e. easily washed, sleeves that children can roll up and trousers which allow independence.
Please provide a complete change of clothes in your child’s bag (including pants and socks) in case of accidents.
We ask that no football colours be worn to nursery in line with East Renfrewshire Policy.
Children should come to nursery wearing comfortable footwear for playing all day.
We have welly racks in our boot room. Please provide a pair of wellies that your child can keep in nursery. They can change into their wellies when they choose to play outdoors.
We have recently purchased waterproof clothing for all children. This means that you are no longer required to provide these for your child while they are at nursery.
All outer clothing and footwear must be labelled with your child’s name.
Nursery polo shirts and sweatshirts are available on the Stevensons website.
