When coming in from the playground, the P4 door is opposite the Rainbow Room.
At the end of the day your teacher will accompany you outside to meet whoever is collecting you.
Curriculum for Excellence is a 3 - 18 skills based curriculum which is designed to prepare our your learners with skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work.
In all stages of Primary school there are eight curriculum areas:
Expressive Arts
Health and Wellbeing
Languages (including Literacy and English and Modern Languages)
Numeracy and Maths
Religious and Moral Education

Technologies
Throughout the year you will cover a wide range of topics in Numeracy and Mathematics. As well as revising and recapping what you have learnt in P3, your P4 teacher will ensure you are making progress as you work towards the end of First Level. You will develop your skills and understanding through a range of practical and written activities.
Some areas you might cover this year include:
Addition and subtraction using carrying and exchanging
Multiplication tables (and making links with division)
Time (digital and analogue)
Problem solving
Measure (length, weight and volume)
In P4, just like in previous years you will be learning to develop your skills in Reading, Writing and Talking and Listening.
Some activities may include:
Active spelling
Comprehension
Creative writing
DEAR time (Drop Everything and Read)
Handwriting
Functional writing
Grammar
Just like in Primary 3 you will be leading your own learning by choosing a Context for Learning each term. This will provide a chance to develop your skills in a variety of curricular areas.
Some examples of the Contexts for Learning that have been explored in Primary 4 previously are:
The Romans
The Vikings
China
Italy
Natural Disasters
Throughout the year, you will explore a range of curricular areas. Here are some examples of the experiences you might have.
In Primary 4 you will each have a base seat with your own desk and tray. Each day you will complete daily literacy and numeracy targets as well as spending some time at the teaching table. In addition you will also have 3 weekly targets to complete which may link to your context for learning or other curricular areas. There will be a system in place to allow you to show your teacher that you have completed your targets.
At lunch time you will go outside and play until the sign saying P4 goes up. Then you will go into the lunch hall and enjoy your lunch. If you are a hot lunch you will take your band to the serving hatch. If you are a packed lunch you will take your lunch box from the class box and then be directed to a seat. Once you are finished, you will return your lunch box to the class box before going outside to play in the P4 playground. If you are a hot lunch you will put away your tray before going outside.
In Primary 4 you can buy tuck from the lunch hall at break.
This is where the sign will go up.
