Part-time

Programme Overview
Equinox Training have led the development of the all-new Level 6 Diploma in Conducting Serious and Complex Investigations in collaboration with the awarded body SFJ Awards who are approved and regulated by OFQUAL.
We are delighted to be introducing a programme of delivery to enable existing trained investigators in the police service and wider public sector who investigate serious and complex crime to enrol onto this bespoke programme of learning and assessment. If you are currently working as an investigator, then you may be eligible to join our part time programme that achieves the level 6 Diploma award.
To carry out serious and complex investigations requires skill, hard work and dedication, and this level 6, 120 credit qualification will provide you with formal recognition. The academic credits from this diploma can be used to access level 7 masters programmes.
The programme will consist of 3 modules of learning. Each module will be twelve weeks in duration with a combination of online delivery by a qualified trainer, self-directed study, assessed assignments and the completion of a workplace evidence-based portfolio that will be assessed to achieve the award.
The Modules
Each module consist of 5 x 4-hour learning sessions delivered by Equinox lecturers, evening delivery during the week.
Module 1
Serious and Complex Investigations (1)
Module 2
Serious and Complex Investigations (2)

Module 3

Teaching
The teaching will be delivered by Equinox associates and staff. All lecturers are experienced operational detectives and qualified educators.
Our staff and associates all PIP 2 or PIP 3 accredited detectives and most hold a level 7 teaching qualification. Where operational experience is not demonstrated in certain specialist areas we will use a subject matter expert in conjunction with a qualified lecturer.
Teaching will be delivered online during weekday evenings.
Facilities
The sessions are delivered online via MS Teams.
Each session is recorded for easy reference and just in case you are unable to attend.
Handouts are made available via PADLET, your own personal repository for the reference texts that will help you achieve the diploma.
When you are engaged in the work that will support the operational competence assessment we will be on hand to guide you through the documentation that will demonstrate your achievement for the diploma.
Our aim is for you to pass the programme and get the recognition every investigator deserves.
Tutoring is not just for the taught sessions. If you miss a session you can catch up with a recording and if you need to we can arrange ad hoc tutorials to make sure you are able to keep up to date.
The life of an investigator is a busy one, we want the course to have maximum benefit but with minimum impact on work and home.
The Diploma is Awarded on completion of an operational competence assessment.
