Programme Overview

Teaching
The teaching will be delivered by Equinox associates and staff. All lecturers are experienced operational detectives and qualified educators.
Our staff and associates all PIP 2 or PIP 3 accredited detectives and most hold a level 7 teaching qualification. This programme is delivered by our in house accredited Senior Investigating Officer and specialist child death SIO.
We also have a current home office pediatric pathologist and specialist forensic crime scene managers co-deliver on the programme.

The sessions can be delivered online via MS Teams.
Sessions can be recorded for future reference. Online delivery can be an efficient method which could suit some organisations.
The majority of customers choose to attend the classroom taught sessions.
This can be delivered at the customers facility, (we come to you), or at our teaching facility conveniently located in central Birmingham.
Handouts are made available via PADLET, your own personal repository for the reference texts that will be available for future reference.
All students will be mentored through the course material to develop their own reflective diary from the case study on the programme.

The scenario base of the learning on the programme ensures immersive learning throughout.
Formative Assessment
Case Study Analysis: Students will be given real or hypothetical SUDC cases to analyse identifying good practices and learning points.
Decision Making: Learners will use investigative scenarios to demonstrate their understanding of the procedures and decision-making processes.
Group Discussions: Facilitated discussions where students share insights and challenge each other’s understanding of SUDC investigations.
Reflective Journals: Keeping a journal where students reflect on what they’ve learned from recent case studies and how it applies to their role.
Peer Review: Students will assess each other’s strategies and approaches to hypothetical SUDC cases, providing constructive feedback.
Summative assessment for the SUDC investigation program will be conducted through various methods to evaluate the learners’ comprehensive understanding and ability to apply the knowledge and skills acquired.
Case Study Presentations: Learners will present their analysis and findings from SUDC cases, demonstrating their investigative skills and understanding in the various aspects.
These assessments will occur throughout the programme and will be supported by supervision and management through internal performance review processes.
