A three tiered program designed to start individuals on their journey with horses.
Primary Level begins kids aged 6-8 and includes age appropriate sessions designed to instill a love for both being with the horse and riding the horse. The emphasis here is on safety and fun while providing an outlet for exercise and time in nature with gentle horses.
Elementary Level is for kids aged 8-10 OR students in their first 6-12 months of riding. These are slightly longer sessions that develop the student's skills in effectively handling, riding, and caring for their horse. While the focus shifts more to developing the student as a rider, the sessions always include grooming, tacking, and cooling out to continue the student's education in horsemanship.
Secondary Level is for those students who have demonstrated safety and proficiency in the Elementary Level and are ready to focus on furthering their skills in the saddle. These are lessons are focused on riding, but may included both mounted and unmounted activities. At the Secondary Level students have the opportunity to concentrate on a specific discipline and aim for a horse show or clinic.
An extra concentration of mounted and unmounted lessons and FUN
A summer camp session at LHF runs over 5 days either mornings or afternoons (or a mix to accommodate the special activities). It includes a minimum of 1 hour in the saddle per day. Students get immersed in life at the barn. The week includes riding lessons, trail rides, games, ground work, seat development sessions, farrier shadowing, vet lectures, and horsemanship lessons. These can be scheduled to prepare for a special event like a Saturday or Sunday horse show.
A holiday camp session at LHF runs over 3 days and can be scheduled to fit during a school break or long weekend. These are condenses version of the summer session and can also be scheduled to prepare for a special event.
Private and Group Sessions
Private or group riding lessons and training that can be individualized for you and your horse. Also, Ashley provides support to Equetec's clients with supplemental lessons and training where it fits with Ginger's program.
Mommy & Me
Ginger teaches the mom and Ashley teaches the child allowing both to get individualized attention and riding time. This allows the mom a chance to enjoy horses for herself while her child also receives the opportunity to learn to ride too.
Working Students
For further education in all aspects of horsemastership.
Graduates of the Secondary Level of the Pony School program can continue their journey of learning with horses by becoming a working student. This allows the student to experience immersion in Equetec's training and rehab programs. Students are mentored by Ginger and Ashley and gain access to even more opportunities for development and growth.
Leasing a LongHaven Horse
Students that desire the opportunity to go to the next level of commitment can lease a horse from Ginger Long and Equetec. Leasing a horse allows the student to take more ownership of a horse and a program without being locked in to actually owning a horse. There are a variety of packages available to suit each unique situation.
