Bilt uses a feature called "Instant Link" to make it easier and faster for you to link your existing credit cards to your Bilt wallet and start earning rewards. This service automatically identifies credit cards associated with your name and date of birth (and sometimes phone number) through secure, established financial pathways.
No. While your card information may appear as a suggestion, Bilt does NOT automatically add or charge any of your credit cards. To actually add a card to your Bilt wallet for payments or rewards, you are still required to:
Select the specific card you wish to use.
Manually enter the security code (CVC/CVV) from the back of your card.
Confirm that you want to link the card.
This ensures you have full control over which cards are active in your Bilt wallet.
When you create your Bilt account, you agree to their Terms and Conditions. These terms include provisions for Bilt to access information, primarily for their credit education services and to facilitate the "Instant Link" feature. By accepting these terms, you are opting into this process, which allows Bilt to securely pull your associated credit card details for your convenience.
Yes, if you prefer not to have your cards pre-populated, you can opt out of the "Instant Link" feature directly within your Bilt account's Privacy Settings.
In order to be able to participate in Bilt's free credit education services (including free rent reporting), part of our standard T&C’s include language around providing Bilt the ability to access information. It’s in no way a credit check or pull, it just gives Bilt the ability to access the info if you choose to participate. If a resident prefers not to participate and wants to opt out of any credit education services we provide, they can disable any of these features in their Account Privacy settings. Here’s more information on how to do so as well as a link to their privacy center, detailing their privacy policy and how data with Bilt is protected.
No - they can choose between Plaid (which would be securely logging in to their banking environment) or manually linking, more details below on that process.
Residents will be able to access their Bilt account through the resident portal or they can go to www.paywithbilt.com/eqr.
Residents have the choice of logging in to Plaid for instant verification to link a bank account or manually entering in account and routing details. If they choose the latter, our team does require verification with microdeposits, which can take up to 1-2 business days to process.

Yes, but residents need to opt-in to this service once they have created their accounts, Even so, if they enroll, Bilt only reports positive behavior each month, never negative.

No, you do not need to use Bilt's credit reporting services in order to pay rent through Bilt. Credit reporting is an opt-in service and residents are not auto-enrolled.

When a resident enrolls in autopay prior to the 1st of the month, the autopay will be effective the 1st of the following month. For example: If a resident enrolls in autopay 3/27 - the effective date will be 4/1. If the resident enrolls on or after 4/1, the autopay will go through the following month 5/1.
There is no formal ‘split rent’ functionality with Bilt; however, residents are able to do partial payments on the platform as long as their accounts are in good standing.
