Course Description: This course provides students with intense practice in reading, writing, grammar and testing. Classroom activities encompass such skills as organizing, studying, listening, and reasoning skills. Consistent and ongoing assessments provide students with feedback regarding their performance in language and communication. Students may “test out” of this course at the end of the first or second semester. This course is pass/fail and does not count as English credit.

- This class is centered on gaining essential skills to help you in your academic life and “real” life after high school. We hope you view this class as an important step to being successful at EHS.
- This class does count towards an elective credit. Although it will be graded pass/fail, we will have high expectations for you in order to receive a “pass.” Daily attendance and participation will be considered in determining your grade for this course.

- This course will not be a “study hall” or English 9 tutor period. Occasionally, we will work on first drafts of writing assignments or review Greek and Latin vocabulary for tests, but often we will be working on other English curriculum to help you practice and gain essential English skills.
