Kyle Dreessen is in his fourth year as the director of bands at Elkhorn High School. Previously, Dreessen served as the director of bands at Elkhorn Ridge Middle School for 8 years and for 2 years at Oakland-Craig Public Schools. Additionally, he has served as a marching band technician for Millard North, Elkhorn South and Elkhorn High School. He received his Bachelor of Music Education in 2010 from Northwest Missouri State University and his Master of Music Education in 2017, from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Dreessen is an active member of NSBA, NMEA, NAfME, and Phi Beta Mu. He has been fortunate to participate in the Kappa Kappa Psi Midwest District Conducting Symposium in 2008, as a member of the 2012 NMEA Young Leaders Symposium, and a 2018 Educator as Maestro with the Omaha Symphony. As a saxophonist, he has performed with the National Wind Ensemble (2007), CBDNA Intercollegiate Band (2007, 2009), and most recently with the Omaha Symphonic Winds. He also maintains a private saxophone studio in the Omaha area, mentoring many solo & ensemble contest medal recipients, and all-state members over the years.
Besides teaching, Kyle enjoys serving as a tour director for Travel with Barb, and loves to spend time with his family. His wife, Vanessa, is a science teacher at Elkhorn South High School. They have 2 daughters, Ivy & Zoe, and 2 corgi’s, Yogi & Grogu, who occupy any free time they can find.
