The 2026 Middle School Sports season can begin on Monday, August 24th for all sports. It is very rare for Middle School to begin on the 24th. Times and locations of tryouts/practices are determined by coaches. Please reach out to Coaches for exact start dates. The beginning of the school year for Middle School can be very busy, especially for 6th graders and families.

Three main requirements to try out:

1) a current physical (all physicals must be in the 2026 school year and say cleared for activities/sports). Please understand that if your physical expires during our season (Aug-Nov) that you will need to have a new physical uploaded.

2) a Rhode Island Interscholastic League Middle School Assumption of Risk form. This form must be signed and notarized.

Middle School Assumption of Risk Form – for all 6th graders and new athletes who have not played a sport in the Middle School. This form is turned into your coach.

Arbiter Registration Link - Please do not email or fax physicals to the schools or nurses. All physicals must be uploaded.- Please remember this does not open until July 6th.

If you do not upload a current physical, you cannot complete the registration process.

If you have never played a sport at MMS or RMS you will need to bring the signed and notarized Assumption of Risk form to practice on the first day. If you have played a sport at either MS then you do not need to turn in an Assumption of Risk form. I will get a digital notification that you have completed your Arbiter registration. If you do not have these three items you will not be eligible to try out/practice
