Walk for Water

"In Tajikistan our water and electricity were connected. About once a month the water and electricity would shut off for a week at a time. Our apartment had one common sink on the bottom floor that would still have access to water during the time. For that week each month we had to walk up and down the 4 flights of stairs to fill our small containers of water. We were the lucky ones, others had to walk from 10 floors up! It was most difficult in the evenings when we would have to do the walk by candlelight. Sometimes it was funny when family members were in the shower the moment the water and electricity shut off!"
