These edukits were put together by a team of teachers (Ally Ng, Sarah Ferrante, Chanelle Alstad, Brandy Lee MacLean, Luke Streisel, Natasha Wensley and Sarah Kobialko) and resources were purchased through equity funds.
Four different Edukits are available for any staff in our catchment to borrow:
Early Years: The contents of this Edukit is intended to enhance the preschool to grade one curriculum. The suggested activities relate to traditional teachings, family and how all things are connected. The activities further develop fine and gross motor development as well as student’s knowledge as it pertains to numbers, shapes, colors, animals, seasonal change and language.
Division 1: This Edukit includes different picture books, each that come with a lesson plan and at least one cultural item that relates to the story and allows children and more hands-on, authentic learning experience.
Division 2: This Edukit contains many picture books and cultural items.
Division 3: This Edukit contains 10 copies of each of the following novels, as well as a literature circle unit plan:
No Time to Say Goodbye by Ann Sam, Rita Morris, and Sylvia Olsen
Goodbye Buffalo Bay by Constance Brissenden and Larry Loyie
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie (also comes with a teacher guide and novel unit)
The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline
