English-speaking Canadians enrolled in the first year of a college or university program have an opportunity to receive a $3,000 bursary to perfect their bilingualism while studying in a field of interest.

This yearly program was established by the Government of Canada. Its aim is to encourage young English-speaking students to pursue their postsecondary studies in French. The objective is simple: Allow a greater number of English-speaking Canadians to become bilingual.

Through Alberta Student Aid, Alberta's government offers scholarships and awards to encourage and reward the excellence of Albertans in post-secondary study.

Eligible teachers can get also funding for French language education training and professional development through the Individual Teacher Bursary Program.

Edmonton Public Schools operates two different scholarship programs that seek to recognize and support students' commitment to the French language.

The James P. Jones scholarship recognizes one Grade 12 student, while the French Bilingual Awards recognize one Grade 6 student, one Grade 9 student, and one Grade 12 student.

Numerous universities in Alberta offer support for students pursuing studies in the field of French language Education.
