What lessons did you learn as an athlete that have served you well in your professional career?
Through sport, I was able to learn what it means to be resilient and dedicated towards a goal. Basketball being a team sport allowed me to learn how to work towards a common goal and how to work along side others. As well, I truly believe that being an athlete allows teammates to see your character, personality, and who you are as a person through the course of a season which can play a greater role after your career is over. People remember how you treated them and how you reacted in times of adversity & vice versa. As you grow older, athletes go onto doing things in their own respective fields yet remember who you are as a person through sport. A lot of jobs are based on network and there has been no greater network than basketball that has allowed me to connect with people globally and has given me the opportunity to live out my dreams because of the standards and foundation that George Hoyt had laid out for me during my time at Ainlay. The lessons he applied on court has been a catalyst towards furthering that same mindset and approach as I became older and more knowledgeable. Thank you Hoyt, and to Harry Ainlay Staff for pushing me towards being a better version of myself.
If you could share one message or memory with current Titans what would it be?
As a high-school kid, I remember the ups and downs of being in an environment that I did not fully understand. High school can be hard, and it can be fun. Cherish both the hard times as much as the fun times. As you get older, you will look back and think about a so called "bad times" and think about how maybe it wasn't as bad as you thought and that you could go back and relive those moments. Like Drake says "Some nights I wish I could go back in life, Not to change anything, just to feel a couple things twice". Be respectful, be kind, try your best and enjoy the good and the bad!
