What lessons did you learn as an athlete that have served you well in your professional career?
1. You are part of a team and you are only as strong as your weakest link.
2. In omnibus excelsior. Excellence in everything.
3. There is no perfection, only progress.
If you could share one message or memory with current Titans what would it be?
They say practice makes perfect. But it’s perfect practice that makes perfect. If you do something wrong a thousand times, it’s still wrong. Don’t do something unless your going to do it well.
Your favourite memory as a Titan?
Winning four city championships back to back and two Provincial Championships. We were quite the team. We knew how to win and to lose. It was all part of the experience.
Anything else you would like to share?
From 1992-1995 I played senior women’s basketball, coached by the late Bryan Anderson. The creator of Tri-Prov. The man who if he saw something he wanted done, he did it himself. He was my father. I learned from the best. He inspired us. Worked us hard and made us the best we could be. I was given no special treatment as his daughter. Only a ride to school. He would always tell me (if I gave him attitude on a day I wasn’t feeling it) that he would bench me just like anybody else. And so I had to earn my place on that court every single time. Which is something I never took for granted. To this day, I respect the hard work that it takes to succeed in anything I want to do.
