COACH LUNA

Bernie Luna is entering his 1st year as the Head Coach at Burges. He is from McAllen, TX where he graduated from Nikki Rowe HS in 1999. Bernie graduated from Sul Ross State University in 2003 where he was a four-year starter for the Lobos football team. He has 20 years of experience as a teacher and as a coach. He has coached at PSJA NORTH, JEFFERSON and BURGES HS. His family includes wife Sara and children Brianna, Madelyn, Grace, and Elizabeth.

COACH MOLINA

​Adrian Molina is entering his 8th year as Offensive Coordinator for the Burges Mustangs. He has 21years of coaching experience. He spent 11 years at El Paso High where he was an assistant Football Coach and Head Wrestling coach. His family includes his wife Anatasha and daughters Evienne and Amelie.

COACH A.HERRERA

​Adrian Herrera is entering his 1st year as the Defensive Coordinator for the Burges Mustangs. He has 16 years of coaching experience. He spent 2 years with Andress as a Defensive Ends coach, 4 years at Jeff as a Defensive line coach,  3 years at Burges as Defensive Ends coach, 1 year at Mountain View as their Defensive Coordinator, and back to Burges as the Defensive Coordinator.  His family includes his wife Paty and sons Daniel and Thomas.

COACH AMÉZAGA

​Jaime Amézaga is entering his 9th year coaching football at Burges High School and is a 1979 alum. He enters 36th year of teaching and coaching with EPISD and has coached at Bowie and El Paso. He is a graduate of New Mexico Military Institute and UTEP.  His family includes wife Patricia, who teaches and coaches at Hartley MS and children Matthew (Burges 2016) Michael (Burges 2019) and Jessica (Burges 2020).

COACH M. HERRERA

Manny Herrera is starting his 27th year at Burges. He is a 1993 graduate of Burges and a 1997 graduate of Sul Ross State University. He has taught and coached at Burges his entire career. He will serve as the Defensive Tackles and Head Boy's Track Coach (23nd year)  for the Mustangs. His daughter Lauryn is a Mustang alum and 2021 graduate of Texas A&M. Coach Herrera is very proud to be a Mustang! IOB

COACH RICKY PAUL OLIVAS

​Ricky Paul Olivas is joining the Burges Mustangs to start off his coaching career as he will be coaching the Running backs position.  Olivas is a 2015 UTEP recruit as he graduated from Austin High School playing the Running back position.  After his football days were done with, he turned into a Rugby player and also played for UTEP.  Ricky also dedicates his time being the Athletic Director at Lydia Patterson Institute.  

COACH MICHAEL AMÉZAGA

​Michael Amézaga is entering his 4th year coaching football and his first year as an assistant coach for the Mustangs.  He began his coaching career at Dr. Tinajero Pk-8 & Hartley Pk-8 while in college.  He is a 2019 graduate of Burges HS and a 2024 graduate from UTEP.  

COACH GONZALEZ

Alfredo Gonzalez enters his 19th year as a coach.  4 years at Cathedral as the Defensive Coordinator, 2 years at Burges as Linebacker's coach, 2 years at Austin HS as the Defensive Coordinator, 4 years at Socorro as the Linebacker's coach, 1 year as the Defensive Coordinator, 3 years Offensive line and Special Teams Coordinator, and 1st year back to Burges as the Offensive line coach.  Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from University of Phoenix.  His family includes wife Francis and children Destiny, Berenice, and Santiago.  ​
