Enter the campus on Bishop White Drive at the Main (South) Entrance at Rt. 252 and St. David's Road. Proceed through the gate and pass the pond on your left. At the first stop sign, take a LEFT on Aurora Lane and proceed to: 

Parking Lot #2/Lower School

Please arrive by 9:00 a.m. (or noon on 12/12). Check-in will take place at our Campus Green Lobby, located on the 2nd floor of our Lower School.  After parking in Lot #2, follow the white footprints up the sidewalk and continue up the steps along the left side of the building. At the top of the steps, take a right, and you will see the entrance straight ahead.

Your child will know that you are in the right place when you see our giant fish tank!  We will be in the lobby to greet you, but the real stars are our 4th and 5th-grade buddies who can't wait to meet your child.  They are excited to take you on an interactive sensory path and scavenger hunt that ends in one of our great classrooms. Hopefully, there will be time to play some games with the 5th Grade buddy before they have to go back to class.

The children will begin their playdate with some free play before we move into story time, games, arts and crafts, and other interactive activities.  Our faculty will have the opportunity to get to know your child while they are having fun making new friends!

While your children are visiting with us, you will have the opportunity to speak with either a member of our administration or with a current Lower School parent and go on a brief tour. If you are not planning on staying at EA during the playdate, please leave your cell phone number and make sure to return promptly at 10:30/1:30.  Coffee and light refreshments will be served.  Your child might be hungry after their very busy morning, so feel free to offer them a treat.

The first thing you can do is tell your child to keep an eye out for something in the mail from Episcopal.  We will be sending you a coloring book that walks through what a typical playdate looks like.  Also, let them know that what they will be doing will be very similar to the activities in their current school.  They will be in the great hands of teachers who have lots of experience with young visitors. 

Casual clothes and comfortable shoes!  

Not necessary.  We will not start bringing the children into the classroom until right at 9:00 OR 12:00  Check-in is fast! We will send you a name tag in advance with your child's coloring book, but will also have lots of extras if you forget it. Our 5th-grade hosts will be waiting to greet your child, but we have found that unnecessary extra time waiting with parents can make children anxious.

This is totally normal.  In our experience, a faster goodbye is always better.  Even if there are a few tears in the beginning, a lingering goodbye seems to exacerbate the separation. Once we are in the classroom, there are many activities and projects to redirect attention.  Should we not be able to convince your child to come join the other children, we can always reschedule or even visit your child at their pre-school.

You are more than welcome to leave while your child is in their Playdate.  Please be prompt, however, to return by 10:30 OR 1:30  for pickup.  We would also love you to stay as our guest!  There will be coffee, light refreshments, and snacks.  You can sit in our lobby and connect to our wifi or go on an optional tour of our Lower School.

Depending on where you are in the application process, this will be different for everyone.  Steps to complete are a parent visit/tour, a report card from your current school, and a recommendation from a current teacher. Never hesitate to contact your Admission Associate with any questions.

If a snowstorm is predicted for the day of your visit, please check the homepage of the Episcopal Academy website (www.episcopalacademy.org) for information. The posting would be listed late in the evening the night prior or early in the morning on the day of your visit. If there is a schedule change, including a late opening, don't hesitate to get in touch with your Admission Associate to discuss your plans.
