A Bit About Me ~

I received my Bachelor of Music Education degree from Longwood University and continue to grow as an educator by enrolling in music courses at George Mason University. As a pastoral musician, I participate in the National Pastoral Musicians Institutes and look forward to this year's convention in Baltimore, MD. I am blessed to be part of the Music Ministry at Precious Blood Catholic Church (Culpeper) and have the privilege of working with youth and adult musicians. I have 18 years teaching experience and have been part of the Epiphany family for the past 13 years. I look forward to more wonderful experiences with our fantastic students.

About General Music Classes ~

Students from kindergarten to grade 8 have general music class once a week. All students learn to sing, play instruments, and dance. Cross-curricular lessons are incorporated into K-8 lessons and activities including religion, literature, science, math, and some foreign languages. Students learn to read music at various levels culminating with middle school students creating music compositions with Finale NotePad on school laptops. Grade 3 students learn to play the recorder while grades 4-8 are eligible to participate in the band program.

K-8 students lead the Novena to The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Mass on the First Friday of each month. Students select songs that coincide with the liturgical season and daily readings. Students lead the entire Mass as music ministers, lectors, gift-bearers and altar servers.

About Band Classes ~

Students, grades 4-8, may participate in the band program where students may learn to play various band instruments. Band classes are held during the school day. Ensemble students are selected by the teacher and play for weekly Mass, school performances, community engagements and celebrations at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Ensemble students rehearse weekly after school. Specific information regarding band classes can be found by clicking the Band and Ensemble tab at the top of the home page.

About Our Faith ~

Lent ~ On February 13th, students participated in the annual Mardi Gras to Lent Prayer Service at 2:30 pm. Students dressed in Mardi Gras colors and wore beads as they joyously entered the gymnasium. Band students played "When the Saints Go Marching In" which added to the excitement of Mardi Gras. Bringing Mardi Gras to a close, students removed their beads and retrieved their Lenten Promises. Students walked quietly outside and tossed their Lenten Promises in the brazier while singing "Save Your People." The afternoon ended in silence.

Holy Week ~

During this Holy Week, grade 4 and 5 students will present the Passion at 10:00 am, Holy Thursday (March 29, 2018). Many thanks to Sandy Ciccarone (grade 4) and Rosemary Ciccarone (grade 5) for their hard work and beautiful presentation of the Passion. All families are encouraged to attend.

We hope our Epiphany administration, faculty, staff, and families have a blessed Holy Week and a safe spring break.

"MUSIC is not what I do...It is Who I am."
