Module 10 - Statistics

In this module, Statistical Measures and Displays, students will use their prior knowledge of representing and interpreting data to develop understanding of statistical measures. By having a solid understanding of statistical measures and displays, students will be better prepared to study more advanced mathematical concepts in later courses, as well as being able to analyze data presented in their occupation and in everyday life.

Grading Policies

We want to ensure clarity regarding our math grading system to support your child's academic success in 6th grade mathematics.

1. Grading Basis: Math grades will be determined by your child's ability to meet the 6th-grade math standards. This means that 100% of the grade will be based on assessments such as tests and quizzes.

2. Retakes for Improvement: We believe in providing opportunities for students to improve their understanding and grades. Students will have the chance to retake assessments if they wish to enhance their performance. However, it is the student's responsibility to request a retake when needed.

3. Homework's Role: Homework is a valuable tool used to assess prior knowledge, review new concepts, and pinpoint areas where students may need additional support. While homework submissions do not directly impact your child's grade, research shows a strong correlation between completing homework and improved retention of math concepts, ultimately leading to higher test scores, which do affect their grade.

4. Homework Schedule: Homework assignments are distributed on Mondays and are available digitally on the student work plans via Google Classroom and the 6th-grade website. Students will have dedicated class time to work on their homework with peer and teacher support.

5. Homework Submission: Homework can be submitted  throughout the week, with the expectation that it will be submitted at 100% correct by Thursday. Late work is accepted at the teachers discretion.

We appreciate your partnership in fostering a strong math foundation for your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. Together, we can ensure your child's success in 6th-grade mathematics.
