From education and health to employment, housing, and poverty, data from the Census Bureau provide an invaluable picture of households across the U.S. The American Community Survey alone captures annual snapshots of over 18,000 variables at the national, state, and local levels.

A Department of Health site with reports and dashboards on topics ranging from nutrition and birth/maternity to immunizations and screening. Also find widely used CDC surveys, including  PRAMS, BRFSS, YRBS, and YTS (you'll have to visit the site to decode these).

Kids Count assembles data from a variety of national and local data sources in an easy to navigate website. Find demographic, economic, education, family and community, health, and children's safety indicators, all searchable by geographic level, topic and, in many instances, age.
