Math

Our school uses the Open Up Resources curriculum for math. In first grade, students will learn strategies for adding and subtracting within 20; learn to understand place value, grouping in 10's and 1's; linear measurement and time; and attributes of geometric shapes.

In our class, math is presented as more of a "puzzle" than a "problem." You can help at home by adopting a positive mindset toward mathematical thinking, and talking about it with your child in an encouraging way. Play games and do puzzles with your child at home - games and puzzles are math!
