What should I know about the EHS T&F program?

 • Running high school track is a privilege. There is an expectation that athletes attend

all practices and meets and put in the work.

• A child’s athletic ability is not all that matters. More importantly, their attitude and effort in every opportunity play the biggest long-term role. They need to be coachable! They have to be team players, show respect to the coaches, listen, work hard, and play the role the coaches want them to fill. Pay attention during practice. Always strive to be better.

• Games and summer scrimmages are sometimes scheduled during regular work hours. Make attendance a priority and ask for help with logistics when necessary. Teammates, coaches, and other families will help get the athlete where they need to be.

• Make sure your child is hydrated and fueled. Nutrition matters throughout the year, not just on meet days. Make protein a priority at every meal and hydrate consistently. Sleep should also be prioritized.

• Be early to practice. 15 minutes early is on time.

• Encourage direct communication and independence; encourage them to talk directly to his/her coaches. This builds accountability and valuable life skills. If he/she is going to be late or miss practice, it’s his/her job to communicate that.

• Practices may end slightly earlier or later than scheduled. Please understand that coaches do their best to release the time as scheduled. In the event they are released early, they can remain at EHS until their ride arrives.

• Athletes need to dress appropriately for the weather. The track season spans hot days, cool days, cold days, and rainy days. Ensure they have what they need to be comfortable and safe given the unpredictability of the weather.

• Meet schedules can be found using the QR code at the bottom of the page.

•  We cannot make our meets as successful as they are without volunteers. If you are so inclined as to assist with concessions, tickets, or meet events, we will be happy to have you!
