In September our own Landon Hageseth, Mr Icenogle, and the rest of the Alabama SkillsUSA State Officer Team attended WLTI in Washington D.C. where they participated in workshops and professional development activities and learned how to advocate for Alabama career tech programs. The team met with U.S. Representatives Barry Moore, Dale Strong, and U.S. Senator Katie Britt. The students shared their stories of how career tech classes have impacted their lives and the importance of continuing to fund the Perkins Act which provides federal funding for career technical education. A huge thank you goes out to Heather Moore for the outstanding tour of the U.S. Capitol building!
Landon is one of only 400 students nationwide to earn the SkillsUSA National Statesman Award this year. He accomplished this by completing pre-conference work and interviewing with the SkillsUSA National staff at the WLTI Conference.
Our SkillsUSA Snack Stand is entirely student-led, organized, and managed by talented students from the Automotive Service, Construction, Graphic Arts, Masonry, and Welding classes at Enterprise High School. By offering tasty treats like nachos, ice cream, pickles, and pink lemonade, we raise funds to support our students' participation in leadership training, conferences, and competitions at the local, district, state, and national levels. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we couldn’t do it without the amazing support from our community. Interested in volunteering? Click Here! Thank you for your continued support, and Go Cats!
Enterprise SkillsUSA is working with Strings 4 Heroes, a local group that will provide free music lessons and guitars to veterans, first responders, and active-duty military members. We are collecting guitars, guitar stands, and music stands and refurbishing them so we can get them into the hands of these deserving heroes in our community. For more information, or if you would like to donate email sicenogle@enterpriseschools.net
You can check out the Strings 4 Heroes website at strings4heroes.com
