March 26th Update

Thanks for another fun week of practices. As tough as it can be to get out of bed so early each morning, I am grateful to start my days by spending time with all of you.
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of springtime, despite the occasional hail storm.

Supporting Our Teammates
Please keep our teammate, Julia Jarman, in your thoughts. Two weeks ago, Julia received a diagnosis of late-stage lung cancer. Julia e-mailed to let me know of her situation and is ready for the battle. Julia also wanted me to pass on the information to all her swimming pals. Julia describes the pool as “her true happy place,” and she is hoping she can get back to swimming with us again soon. We hope so, too!
In today’s Nashville Business Journal, do not miss the article about teammate Michael Carter and his company, Pinnacle Construction Partners, as well as the progress being made in Nashville concerning the inclusivity of Black-owned companies. Not only is it a wonderful article, but also Michael looks extremely fit! ...it must be all the hard work he puts in the pool.

Notice of Dues Increase
Ensworth Aquatics Masters monthly dues will increase to $75 a month beginning May 1. This is the first monthly dues increase in the program's 6-year history. We are proud to have a program that offers 9 different practice options a week in the best aquatics facility in all of middle Tennessee. This dues increase will go far towards being able to continue offering a great program in a beautiful Natatorium.
Please contact Coach Chris if this adjustment impedes your ability to be a part of our program.
Finis Band Order
Who needs one? I am about to place an order for additional yellow Finis bands for those teammates who do not have one. We use these quite often in practice, so please do purchase one, either through me or on your own. Deadline to order is Monday.

You now have until March 31st to complete the USMS 1-Hour swim. Let me know if you are interested in competing so I can connect you with other teammates who also wish to participate. It would be great to have at least a few of you join in on the "fun." Anyone interested in supporting the teammates participating, we need timers and lap counters, please email Coach Chris.

This new THRICE "swim meet" is quite creative, as each event is comprised of 3 swims of the same stroke or IM in different distances: Freestyle Sprints (50, 100, and 200), Freestyle Distance (200, 500, and 1000), Butterfly, Backstroke, or Breaststroke (50, 100, and 200); and/or I.M. (100, 200, 400 IM). This event will take place the entire month of March, with great awards and cool t-shirts for purchase.
