The hydrologic cycle, or water cycle, allows water to be used over and over. Water is stored in lakes, underground, and in plants. Through evaporation (or transpiration when coming from plants), water vapor moves into the atmosphere. When it cools, the water vapor clings to dust in the atmosphere and condenses, forming larger and larger drops. These drops make clouds, the water eventually falls back to Earth through precipitation (rain, sleet, hail, or snow), and the process starts over again.
