Graduation Deadlines
Please see below for important deadlines to graduate:
STEP 1: APPLY FOR GRADUATION
Final date to apply for graduation via Testudo
STEP 2: NOMINATE YOUR COMMITTEE
Deadline to submit Nomination of Thesis or Dissertation Committee Form to the Office of the Registrar.
Committee form must be submitted at least six weeks before scheduled defense.
Deadline to submit special or associate member nominations (find committee member rules here). Please consult with bioe-grad@umd.edu in advance of submitting the committee nomination form.
2 weeks prior to defense: email bioe-grad@umd.edu the date, time, location, and abstract of the defense for posting via this format.
For qualifying exemptions, the committee chair must request remote participation at least 10 business days prior to defense.
STEP 3: SUBMIT YOUR WORK
Deadline for advisor to submit signed Report of Examining form to bioe-grad@umd.edu.
Deadline to electronically submit dissertation/ thesis via ETD System. Note: it's recommended you defend at least 1-2 weeks in advance of the above deadline in case your committee requests revisions before you can officially upload your dissertation/thesis to the university.
Electronic Publication Form is no longer required for graduation. Note: Publication requirement will be met when document is submitted to ProQuest and publication option is selected. Students may place an embargo of up to two years on electronic access to their document through ProQuest's Digital Dissertations and DRUM without approval from the Graduate School. Approval from The Graduate School is required to place an embargo for a maximum of six years or indefinitely.
Deadline to submit Approved Program Form. (MS students only)
