Synchronization

Coordinated patterns of neural spikes as a result of neural activity in different areas of the brain.
This behavior happens during normal activities such as sleep or concentration.
Excess or deficient synchronization is observed in neurological disorders such as Epilepsy, Schizophrenia, and Parkinson’s disease.

Project Breakdown

Coupling Networks

We coupled two networks with random architecture. Networks architectures models connected were 2 random networks coupled together and a random to small-world network.

Parameter Adjustment

Neurological parameters were adjusted for the purpose of transmitting synchronous spikes from first to second network.

Tracking Synchronous Spikes

We created raster plots which illustrated the spiking behavior of the two networks when simulated to check for synchrony.
