Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Started ordering parts after getting the greenlight from sponsor
Waiting for those parts to continue with risk reduction
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Fully disassembled steering column, took pictures, understood its functions more in-depth
Pressure sensor can be read, just need to read microcontroller with software
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Sebastian: Conduct spring and electromagnet risk reduction tests once parts come in
Angel: Help Sebastian with spring and electromagnet tests
Nicholas: Get microcontroller working
Alex: Assemble brake calipers and wiring once parts come in
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Proposed a pin mechanism so electromagnet wouldn't be continuously powered
CADed a model and found force the pin feels, as well as frictional force causing pin to not fall
Conducted FEA analyses to find optimal pin shape (rectangular)
Need to continue analyses, but definitely a viable alternative to current spring/electromagnet iteration
Happy with progress made
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Add plot showing distance traveled by kart with respect to initial speed (done)
Risks and Areas of Concern (i.e. show stoppers)
Space of kart
Feasibility of brake system to stop kart within 10 m
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Schedule
Once parts come in, risk reduction tests and assembly can start. Otherwise, we can do more research or do more CAD analyses
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent: $330.19
Amount Remaining: $969.81
Progress on Report and Webpage
Added and filled out Project Management Page
Added risk reduction presentation under Reports
