The persistent high rates of rehospitalization due to chronic heart failure have remained a growing concern in health care. Millions of patients are affected every year and often find themselves having to be readmitted to the hospital due to unexpected episodes of heart failure. Although there are a plethora of current technologies that strive to alleviate the burden of high rates of hospitalization, most of these solutions have been ineffective in their endeavors due to their high costs, inconvenience of use, and lack of scalability.
Our project aims to design an affordable, contactless home health monitoring system incorporated into the bed frame of the patient. We hope to continually track a patient's heart rate, breathing rate, change in weight and ballistocardiogram to improve the overall reliability of chronic heart failure diagnosis.
