CSE 198 - Mastering the Internship Interview

Course Summary

This course will prepare students to interview for software engineering internships. Using actual interview questions, students will learn key problem-solving strategies and concepts specific to the technical/coding interview. Emphasis will be on the oral and combination written-oral modes of communication common in coding interviews, but which are an unfamiliar settings for problem solving for many students.

This course meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 2-2:50 PM in CSE 4258.

Course Logistics

This course is worth 2 units of P/NP credit, and to receive a passing grade, students must meet the following requirements:

• Attend Class
  • Please show up on time, no more than 5 minutes late.
  • If you need to miss class, please notify us ahead of time.
  • We’ll tolerate 3 unexcused absences.
• Submit every weekly homework assignment on time.

Homework

• Homework is due on a weekly basis, and will be based on effort. We're not expecting you to solve these problems perfectly, but more importantly we want to see your thinking and thought process when solving these problems. The more effort you put into the homework, the more specific we can be with feedback, and the more prepped you will be for any future interviews.
  • We'll tolerate one missing assignment.
