Computer Aided Design

The CAD process was done with two goals in mind: simplicity while retaining visual interest, and full utilization of the available CAD tools. For the theme, a wrench was chosen as a nod to the manual assembly stage as well as a seamless extension of the top portion of the pendulum, which had a fixed design in order to correctly interface with the escapement wheel. To further the goal of simplicity, the lower portion of the design was made symmetrical, to ensure a centered Center of Gravity. The escapement wheel was kept solid, to ensure the maximum strength.
