Leukemia is a fatal disease that affects a big population in our society. Currently, there are a lot of challenges in leukemia diagnosis, prognosis, and personalized treatment. There are four types of leukemia: ALL, CLL, AML, and CML. In this project, we will only focus on CLL and ALL leukemia. We chose to use CLL and ALL because we have a better understanding of their cancer heterogeneity.

Diagnosis of leukemia could be very subjective as you can imagine different doctors will draw the gate at different locations. Sometimes, the cutoff between cancer cells versus non-cancer can be abrupt which can result in inaccurate proportion of cancer cells. To solve the subjectiveness of the current diagnosis process, many machine learning tools have been invented. However, most of them are not adopted in clinical practice or tested on real patients’ datasets. In our project, we want to assess some popular methods in their ability to identify cancer cells
