Fully Assembled 3D Printed Planar Biaxial Device. The device consists of an FDM printed base with all other parts being SLA printed. It has a latex analog for a myocardium sample hooked into the center of the device.
We printed only 1/4 of the device for testing to limit the amount of time and resources it took. This model of the device was the last complete 1/4 we made before printing the final pieces of the device.
Below are 2 videos (click the arrows in the viewing window to navigate back and forth between them). In one video you can see a close up of how the ratchet wheel interacts with the driving gear in the rack and pinion mechanism to convert angular displacement to linear displacement and move the loading arm backwards. In the other you can see the entire quarter of the device and the majority of the movement range of the loading arm.
