Who We Are

We are a group of senior undergraduate students in the Bioengineering Department at UC San Diego who were mentored by Dr. Joshua Stramiello of Rady Children's Hospital. For the 2021-22 Academic Year, we were Senior Design Group 12, with a project entitled "Characterization and Design of Bioresorbable 3D-Printed Intraluminal Airway Stents for Pediatric Tracheomalacia." We won the Best Attention to Detail Award at the poster sessions of Bioengineering Day 2022. Our work was also presented at the 2022 American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO) Meeting. Additionally, we will be publishing a paper with our work soon!

• Dr. Shengqiang Cai for the use of his lab space to conduct our radial compression testing,

• Nada Qari (Ph.D. candidate in the Cai Lab) for her mentorship in teaching us the use of the Instron machine and also helping us understand how to characterize mechanical properties of polymers,

• The Christman Lab for the use of their space for our surface treatments and PBS immersion,

• The MAE Teaching Labs for granting the use of their Instron for our linear compression testing, and
