Expected descent rate of 5 cm/sec +/- 0.10 cm.
Will be validated quantitatively with use of Bar 30 depth sensor attached to top of threaded sleeve.
Quality of photos will be compared to quality pictures taken by stationary IPAXs and Scripps Plankton Camera (SPC).
Hope to run the plankton images captured through the same system that labels SPC pictures.
Expect that the walls of the main housing are thick enough to hold up under weight of tethers.
Ideally, the Free Falling Plankton Observer will be able to solve issues with current plankton imaging systems by: providing a dual view imaging system and be in situ and non disturbing to the water and plankton
For Future Directions: Finish manufacturing the vehicle, properly and safely test it, and add a second depth/pressure sensor so both sleeves have their own sensor
