EEG's or Electroencephalograms are the primary tool that researchers and industry professionals use for probing the brain and conducting research into brain reaction and function. It is a fast growing sector of the bio-sensing due to the quickly falling price and increasing convenience of the device type. The Bioengineering Department of the University of California, San Diego currently lacks a practical hands on EEG lab for educating students in the design and application of EEG type devices.
