Electronics System
The electronics system is designed to power and control the lights and filter as determined by user’s specified schedule. The system will also interface with any device capable of Bluetooth serial communication such as a smartphone, tablet, or PC terminal.
An Arduino Pro Mini and a Bluetooth Serial chip are packaged in the right side of the frame. These serve as the communication and processor system that allow the user to interface with and control the device. Currently the voltage converter sits behind the head of the user, however, future iterations will have the processor, Bluetooth, and converter consolidated on one PCB
In order to initiate the optical transition in the filter material a large voltage must be supplied. Since the on board processor can only output 5V, a power converter was needed. below shows the diagram and PCB image of the power circuit. In the final product the microprocessor, Bluetooth, and power converter will all be on one board, located in the right side of the frame
