Senior Thesis is one of my favorite courses to teach. I love to see the students formulate a research idea and pursue it from the conceptual phase to a completed study. Guiding them in this process is rewarding as they gain confidence and see their work come to fruition.
This amazing display represents all of the dedication and great amounts of time and effort used to bring those first ideas to these completed projects. I have every confidence that the future of nursing research is in good hands! Congratulations to everyone!
"As a clinical research nurse, I have a passion for the role research plays in healthcare and its advancement toward the best clinical care. Over the past 8 years, I have taught Endicott College nursing students grow from developing the ideas they have for research questions sophomore year, to performing a thorough review of the current literature on their topic in Thesis 1, to formulating a plan to carry out their research and analysis of the data. Our nursing students continue to amaze me with the ideas they come up with, their passion for their topic, and the quality of the work they produced in their final thesis paper and presentation. This years class of nursing students has faced extraordinary hurdles, and they overcame them both personally and professionally as a budding nurse researcher. I love to teach these amazing young adults, and always learn so much from them as I hope they learn from me."
"Senior Thesis is an opportunity for nursing students to learn the research process through application. It is rewarding to see students leave the class and embark on their career as new graduate nurses who are confident in their ability to critique evidence and have a positive impact on the science of nursing practice. I particularly enjoy working one-on-one with students to assist them with brainstorming and identifying the focus of their project. It is gratifying to support students as they move from Thesis I to Thesis II and eventually complete their projects feeling empowered and excited to tackle clinical practice challenges."
"For me, I enjoy teaching Thesis II as I am able to watch the students not only grow from freshman year to their senior year, but also throughout the semester as they travel along in their research journey. It is amazing to see how proud the students become of themselves and their work by the end of the semester. What starts out as a tiny seed, blooms into a beautiful flower."
"I enjoy teaching the senior thesis classes because it gives me an opportunity to help students investigate a subject they are truly passionate about. I find it is inspiring to talk with students about their interests and why they chose to pursue their chosen topic. I love to work one-on-one with my students and to see their ideas blossom into an independent research project that I hope they are all proud of."
Nursing is an evidence-based profession, so it is of the utmost importance that our nursing students be able to search professional literature, read and understand that literature, and produce scholarly writing to support their practice and learning. The research and thesis courses that are part of our nursing curriculum, are an integral part of our student's nursing education. Students learn the relevance of research in clinical decision making and in planning safe, evidence-based care for patients. Professional writing and presentations are also a vital part of communication in nursing. Over the years some of our student projects have been timely and informative. It is with great pride that I can help our students with their thesis projects. Congratulations to this years Senior Thesis students, well done!
