Advanced Placement United States History (APUSH) is a comprehensive, two-semester course beginning with the pre-Columbian era to the present. Many of the activities, assignments, and assessments in this course will help you gain knowledge and practice skills necessary for the Advanced Placement examination.
Student Materials
Come prepared each day with the following materials: school-issued Chromebook, blue or black pen, pencil, lined paper, and a three-ring binder specifically for this class.
Student Expectations
Students will arrive to class prepared and on time.
Students will check Google Classroom, Google Sites, and all other forms of communication several times a day.
Students will submit assignments when they are due. Late work will not be accepted without prior teacher approval.
Students will be productive in class and participate during instructional time.
Students will prepare for the AP exam through active participation in class activities and independent studying and research.
Students will complete their own work. Cheating and/or plagiarism will not be tolerated.
Grading
Check School Loop regularly to ensure your grade has been recorded accurately. The following is the grading scale for this course. You will be awarded a letter grade based on the points accumulated throughout the semester.
90-100% A
80-89% B
70-79% C
60-69% D
< 60% F
Plus (+) and minus (-) will not be added to letter grades. I will not round up for progress reports or final grades.
Your grade will be calculated based on your performance and effort in the following categories:
Writing (SAQ/DBQ/LEQ) 50%
Multiple Choice 30%
Classwork and Homework 20%
APUSH Exam Information
The APUSH exam will be administered on May 5, 2023 (3 hours 15 minutes). Student performance on the following four parts will be compiled and weighted to determine an AP Exam score (1-5).
Multiple-Choice Questions 55 questions 55 minutes 40% of exam score
Short Answer Questions 3 questions 40 minutes 20% of exam score
Document-Based Question 1 question 60 minutes 25% of exam score
Long Essay Question 1 question 40 minutes 15% of exam score
