Google Drive makes it very easy to upload existing documents. When you do so, you have two choices:
1. Keep the document in it's original format (i.e. PowerPoint, Word, etc)
Retains all original formatting.
Can not be edited; view only.
2. Convert the document to the corresponding Drive format.
May experience format loss.
Document is fully editable from within Drive.
Click the gear icon (top right corner) in Drive and look for the "convert upload" button to make your selection.
If you are ready to make the switch to Google Drive, you can upload all of your files at one time.
Log into Google Drive and select New > Upload Folder. You can select any folder and the entire contents (including sub folders) will be uploaded to drive.
Remember, once you upload a file to Drive, you should NOT continue editing the file on your local computer. Changes will NOT be synced.
The Google Drive app for Apple and PC allows you to access your files on your local computer AND in the cloud.
The Drive App works a lot like Dropbox - it syncs changes to documents so they are accessible on any device.
1. Download and install the Drive App for every device you wish to connect to your Drive account.
The Drive app is available for Windows, Apple, iOS devices, and Android devices.
2. Create your shared Drive folder and begin adding files.
Anything added to this folder will be accessible through your Drive account.
Keep in mind that although you can put anything into the Drive folder, you won't be able to edit everything (i.e. PhotoShop files, SmartBoard lessons, etc)
