Bobby Salcedo Memorial Scholarship: Agustín Roberto “Bobby” Salcedo graduated from Mountain View High School in 1994, where he demonstrated his early leadership skills as the student body president. Because he believed in the importance of a college education, he would go onto Cal State Long Beach to earn a degree in history. This degree would help him to make a difference in his community; he became a teacher at South El Monte High School where he taught world history and economics. His commitment to students extended beyond the classroom as he took on the roles of Class of 2002 Advisor and Track and Field Coach. In 2004, he served the district as the Assistant Principal of Activities at South El Monte High School. He would follow this by becoming Assistant Principal of Instruction at Mountain View High School and continue this role at El Monte High School until his untimely end in 2009. Even though Bobby was taken away from us at a young age, he lived a meaningful life with purpose. For this reason, the Bobby Salcedo Memorial Foundation was created to provide scholarships to qualified students who, like Bobby, are determined to make an impact in their own community.
