About

The Missouri HIV Justice Coalition was formed to change Missouri's outdated and stigmatizing HIV criminal statutes.

This coalition is made up of national partners, local AIDS service providers, and individuals with support from a number of organizations. We seek to be led by people living with HIV (PLHIV) as those most impacted by these laws and familiar with the lived realities of HIV. We are staffed as a project of Empower Missouri, 501c3.

Started in 2014 as the Missouri AIDS Task Force, it was originally staffed through Doorways in St. Louis. After a gap in funding and staffing, we reformed in 2016 as the MO HIV Justice Coalition. We receive grant funding from the Missouri Foundation for Health.
