Empower Kaiako for Equity Aotearoa (KEA) is an educators community to provide a safe space for Aotearoa New Zealand kaiako who primarily work in, or with, High Equity Index Schools (HEIS).

Empower KEA aims to create a safe and inclusive space to support kaiako to ensure ākonga have an equitable experience and success in education. This kaupapa can be achieved by:

Collaboration between educators across organisations to develop adaptive practice.
Face to face and online opportunities for kaiako to kōrero and build relationships.
Providing responsive professional learning and development for kaiako.
Advocating for high equity index schools, their kaiako and their ākonga.
Challenging deficit models of ākonga in educational spaces.
Being agentic in the face of curriculum and NCEA changes.
Sharing resources, ideas, learning and behavioural strategies, and knowledge with kaiako.
