In 1968, Rodale Emken founded a home-based bookkeeping service, diligently building a customer-centric business that became a source of pride for the entire Holdrege community.
Carrying the Torch
Following its acquisition by Marlene Johnson and her business partners, Emken sustained the legacy established by Rodale. Marlene, carrying the torch, upheld the business's values until her passing. Mirroring the growth of the Holdrege community, Emken flourished over the years.
Current Era
Bringing over a decade of tax industry expertise, Ann Coover acquired the business from the Johnson Family in 2015. Demonstrating her roots, she relocated the business to her hometown of Lexington, marking a significant chapter in its journey. In 2026 Ann decided to expand to add a Kearney Location & change the name to Coover & Associates to further build the family brand.
Family Affair
Coover & Associates takes pride in its four-generation workforce. Ann & DJ make a great team running both offices. Tami, Ann's mother, skillfully handles clients' payroll needs. Ann & DJ's children Kylee, Donnie, Jessa, & Mickala help when needed. The grandkids can frequently be found in & around the office "helping" make a great client experience.
