This project focuses on implementing prosocial education in a tiered approach with teachers, teacher-leaders, and administrators to promote school climate and culture, improve student behavior, and create positive and productive learning environments. While we would love to include all middle school teachers in the program, we realize that it is not always feasible, so we are accepting a minimum of 2 teachers per school to participate.
We will work with middle school administrators, teacher-leaders, and teachers to engage in a school-wide climate and culture renewal through high-quality professional learning experiences, coaching, mentoring, and support.
Our Approach:
Focuses on positive, rather than negative, behavior.
Utilizes classroom management strategies that are integrated into everyday teaching practices.
Does not include additional curriculum or burdensome administrative tasks, but rather takes an interactional and embedded approach.
Promotes prosocial behavior in the context of collaborative, active learning, so students learn the necessary skills to work well with others.
Support a sustainable whole-school implementation of prosocial education.
