This past weekend the EMU Forensics team traveled to Muncie, Indiana for the 50th Annual Age of Aquarius Invitational Tournament hosted by Ball State University. It was a wonderful weekend of competition that gave their novices and sophomores a chance to shine while going up against some of the most competitive teams in the country, and we are thrilled with the results! Every member of the team at the tournament broke to final rounds! Some highlights were novice Sarah Dubinsky taking 4th place in varsity dramatic interpretation and also earning a top novice award in the event, as well as sophomore Patricia Terhaar being deemed the tournament champion in informative speaking. The team will now take their collective success and focus that energy toward this coming weekend where the team will travel to the University of Illinois at Chicago for the Chicago Swing Invitational. Best of luck, team!
The year is 1929. The place, Berlin's bawdy nightspot, the Kit Kat Klub. Outside the club, Germany succumbs to the power of the emerging Third Reich. Inside the club, the Emcee intoxicates audiences with promises that troubles are forgotten at the Cabaret. Caught up in this world-at-odds is a host of memorable characters: the naive writer, Cliff; the seductive singer, Sally Bowles; the boarding house head mistress, Fraulein Schneider; and the Jewish fruit-seller, Herr Schultz. This 1998 Revival version, winner of 4 Tony Awards, provides a scorching satiric indictment of frivolous complacency in the face of impending doom.
The cast includes: Parker Stephen Nolan (Master of Ceremonies/Emcee), Rosemary Coryell (Sally Bowles), David Liskow (Clifford Bradshaw), Rory Quist (Ernst Ludwig), Sarah Gunter (Fraulein Schneider), Quentin Villa (Herr Schultz), Aaron Greunke (Customs Officer/Bodyguard), Gabriel Stephenson (Max/Sailor), Maria Tucker (Fraulein Kost), John Milkovich ("Rudy" Sailor/Bodyguard), Kathleen Cicero (Frenchie), Savannah VanStee (Texas), Emma Doyle (Helga), Jackie Marlett (Rosie), Lindsey Scheidler (Lulu), Abbi Bick (Fritzie), Andrew Fogle (Bobby), John Verellen (Victor), Jon Bargas (Herman), and Damone "Bello" Morton (Hans).
