We are the Eastern Michigan University Student Chapter of the National Art Education Association (NAEA). Our purpose is to support the growth of future art educators by offering opportunities to learn, lead, and connect. Through workshops, service projects and professional development, we explore the role of art in education and the community. We believe that art education fosters creativity, critical thinking, and inclusivity, and we strive to prepare students to be thoughtful, innovative, and compassionate teachers.
Community – We build meaningful connections among students, educators, and the larger community through collaboration and support.
Creativity – We encourage exploration, innovation, and expression in all forms of art and teaching.
Inclusivity – We welcome and celebrate people of all backgrounds, fostering a space where everyone belongs.
Education – We are committed to learning, teaching, and advocating for the vital role of art in schools and society.
Membership means joining a community of future art educators who value creativity, connection, and the joy of making art. Together, we engage in hands-on workshops, professional development, and service projects that inspire growth and prepare us for our future classrooms. Being a member is a way to learn, collaborate, and build the skills and friendships that will shape your journey as an art teacher.
